I am having a single storey rear extension which involved a new open plan kitchen, sitting room and a dining room. As I am the kind of person who can't tell the difference from taupe to tan, I know I must hire an ID. I was nervous because I had had an unpleasant and expensive (with nothing to show) experience with an ID - but this time I bit my lips, crossed my heart, googled "ID near me" and literally stumbled across Jeni. My biggest worry is the cost. And Jeni was upfront about her charge out rate and fees in our first Zoom. Once the subject of money had been cleared, the relationship began. Jeni's first task was to finalise my choice of kitchen units including the kitchen sink! Something that took me months to decide, she did it in 1 hour, explaining the accent colour, the materials (you don't have to pick the premium ones - yay!) etc. At the end of the kitchen appointment, I was able to place the order a week later. Jeni was thorough and responsive from start to finish. She started by asking me to create a mood board, I was skeptical at first (more homework?). But I quickly learned this approach allowed her to understand her client's taste. Jeni truly worked her magic when it comes to furnitures. Since my moneys had been sucked into the building work, I was upfront about my small furnitures budget. I don't know how she did it but she managed to create a dossier of furnitures that look and feel expensive but reasonably priced. And she will tell you which furnitures you can skimp and which you must stick to her list. I'm probably her most ignorant client whose eyes glazed when she mentioned "mist coat". So during one of her visits to my house, she brought along plastic sheet, multiple measuring tapes, rags etc and laid them on the floor so I can see the placement of all the furnitures. She prepared a sketch of all the recommended furnitures from sofa to floors down to cushions. And instead of bombarding me with hundreds of samples, she picked 2 or 3 so I am not bamboozled with too many choices, It has been a pleasure working with her. She has done a wonderful job: first establishing what my wife an I had in mind for the room and then putting together design options. Her suggestions were all excellent and we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Jeni to anyone looking to do a similar job. Jeni is brilliant! I've hired her a number of times over the years, starting small with some blinds and paint colors for a nursery, all the way up to a recent bathroom renovation, and many things in between. The bathroom is gorgeous -- a 1920s inspired look that is serene and perfectly proportioned. Everything is so polished and at a higher standard than I would have even known to reach for. Beautiful details make it look like it was properly designed by someone who really knows what they're doing. We hadn't used an interior designer before, but as we had a blank canvas in our new front room and dining room and a lack of creativity ourselves, we spoke to Jeni. Jeni helped me completely redecorate my downstairs living room. She initially created a design based on our preferences which we then had opportunity to change during one of her home visits. She helpfully obtained samples for sofa fabrics and floor tiles, so we could make the choices there and then. First got in touch with Jeni in December 2015. We were embarking on a massive house renovation project and we needed help with the interior design. We both work full-time, have crazy jobs and a kid so time is pretty scarce come the weekends, and to aimlessly wonder round furniture, carpet, wallpaper, fireplace shops without really knowing much about how to decorate the interior of the house, what would go well together, the different products on the market, what is good quality vs not so great, it made sense to find someone to help us! Having lived in my flat for almost a decade I finally accepted that there were some things I would just never get around to doing. Enter Jeni. We hired Jeni for an initial room consultation to help kick us off with ideas for our kitchen and basement refurbishment. She understood our design brief perfectly and came up with loads of interesting ideas for layout, fittings, furniture, flooring and overall looks that capture the style we were looking to achieve, and which we were able to go away and investigate further. Once we had finalised with the architect and structural engineer what was possible structurally, we then continued to work with Jeni throughout the remainder of the project. We first used Jeni to design our new kitchen and utility room at the beginning of our complicated house extension project. We were impressed with Jeni's previous kitchen projects and commissioned her assistance from the very early stages of planning our new kitchen which included extending the existing space through to completion of our finished room. First and foremost, I really should make it clear that by hiring Jeni we now have a kitchen-diner and lounge which is set apart from any self designed interior I have seen. The look we have is so professional, absolutely first class. We had some unusual spaces which we needed help with and Jeni provided innovative solutions which acheived a fantastic result.
